Bring It On Samba!
I have always wanted to be a footballer or football player. Since I was 11 i have already felt the glory of scoring goals. Although at the age of 11 i'm kinda late since every football greats started playing football at a very early age. I remember my first official football boots was the Nike T90 III although before i had a number of boots which i could not remember. I wore that boots till i'm 15. I received my first cap for the school at the age of 12 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Saint Joseph, Johor Bahru. I only played a game as a striker and never being capped again till i was 15. I played in the Akademi Bolasepak English Collage since i was in form 1. When i was in form 2 i was selected in the team competing in the MSSD U-15 Tournament at SMK Dato Osman Awang. I was recovering from a fever during that period. I was a substitute for the whole tournament. I was substituted in one of the games and went on to play as left-wing. But the coach knew i was uncapable to play in higher lever and was a liability to the team. I was then lated substituted. Lated that year, i get the opportunity to be in the English Collage U-15 football team competing in the Nike Cup. It was held at Padang Seri Gelam, Johor Bahru. But in just moments before the first match, i was withdrawn from the team as a result of extra players. I believe the truth behind that is that i wasn't good enough to be in the team (considering that the last trainig before the matchday i did a lot of unnecessary mistakes). Our team lost that year and i have to be the coleman or ballpicker. I was devastated with that decision. I was determined that i am going to do better to get in to the team. That day came a year later when i was selected in the squad competing in the MSSD Tournament. But this time my position swapped to defense and i was the team's first choice sweeper (considering the team only needed one sweeper). We advanced to the knockout stages when we were beaten 3-1 by SMK Tasek (the scoreline may differ because i forgot it). I featured in every match and has done a quite good job, at least until i missed the striker from SMK Tasek and he would go on to score a goal in the final fixture. Later that year i was selected again in the team to compete for the Nike Cup at Padang Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang. It was a two legged match and we were paired with a team that consists mostly players from SMK Impian Emas. We drew the first leg and went on to play the next where the result was the same. It all went down to penalty shoot-out. We went on to lost that game. I started on the bench on the second game but later substituted in the second half. Not long after that disastrous Nike Cup campaign, i was called up in the school team for a friendly game with SMK Pasir Gudang 2, which is currently under the project of Akademi Johor FC (before them its English College). I went on to play for the U-18 team because of the lack of players in the team. I played right-back alongside the likes of Muzakkir, Marzuki, Budin, Anas, Botak, Rishi, and Muhamad Radzi Hanafi Harith (currently goalkeeper in the Johor FA President's Cup squad). It was a great and useful experience for myself. To be continued...
